Heilongjiang: Harbin Institute of Technology makes great achievements in IP

S&T Development Center of Ministry of Education (www.cutech.edu.cn) has organized the compilation of the first "Chinese High School IP Report (2008)" which collects comprehensively data and materials for intellectual property in our countries' universities and colleges and shows objectively the general picture of the IP protection for universities and colleges. According to the report, Harbin Institute of Technology was the 8th among other universities and colleges with its patent applications from 1985 to 2007; its innovation patents ranked 6th, so did the patents granted during the same period. Both the patent applications and patents granted at the end of 2008 ranked the 4th among other universities and colleges.

In 2008, Harbin Institute of Technology applied 896 patent applications, with 295 patents granted. By now, the numbers for invention patent application and invention patents have reached 613 and 593 respectively, which will result one third increase comparing with last year. Meanwhile, there are 53 transformation projects of patent achievement implemented in recent years. In 2008, Harbin Institute of Technology got 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal at the 6th International Exhibition. While in this year, the Institute gets more, with one gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. [Chinese version is available on hit.edu.cn]
