Deputy Minister of U.S. Department of Commerce visits China |
It is learnt from U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou that, Deputy Minister of U.S. Department of Commerce in charge of IP and Director of Patent and Trademark Office David Kappos visits China from April 13 to 16 and would attend the five patent directors' meeting held in Guilin. At the meeting, Kappos encouraged the IP cooperation between U.S. and China and expounded the indivisible link between innovation and IP protection, and had further understanding on the IP protection related problems appeared in U.S. and Chinese companies in South China. At the meeting with Chinese enterprises' representatives, Kappos suggested Chinese enterprises to effectively protect Chinese IPRs in U.S. with U.S. patent system. After the meeting on April 14, Kappos visited the International Law School of Peking University and delivered the speech of "How Can Intellectual Property Affect the Global Economy and Trade" to 150 law students. Kappos expounded the extreme importance of IP in global economy; he called IP as "innovative money" and "key of national global comparative advantages". And then Kappos answered the students' questions and discussed the bilateral cooperation on combating IP infringements. He stressed "promoting the settlement of the problems in IP system with innovative ways is the responsibilities of law and academy communities". |
