Lately, clay craftsman Tang Jie in Yixing, Jiangsu Province is preparing related materials for the patent application for his new work. Following the publishing of "Chinese Purple Clay – Patented Works", quite a lot of clay craftsmen start to apply for patents for their works. Yixing purple clay has high reputation and praise at home and abroad due to its unique technique and has become the name card of Yixing. In 1979, the first trademark for the purple clay in the history, "方圆牌" was successfully registered, which has created an era of the intellectual property protection for purple clay. And the establishment of municipal industry association for purple clay, the set up of comprehensive intellectual property consultation system, the successful registration of "宜兴紫砂 (Yixing Purple Clay)" as geographic indication and the implementation of "Ordinance of Yixing on Protection on Purple Clay" play an active role in standardizing the industry order of purple clay even more. However, in recent years, someone counterfeited others' works aiming at economic benefits, and then sold at a lower price, which not only infringed the intellectual property rights, but also harmed the image of Yixing purple clay. At present, people who really understand and dare to use intellectual property rights to protect their original work are still few. Thus, some masters call for protection of the intellectual property of purple clay together and leave no space for counterfeits. |
