8,516,000 items of illegal publications seized

According to National Anti-Pornography and Anti-Illegal Publications Office, from this January to March, 8,516,000 items of illegal publications were seized, among which 7,876,000 items were infringing or pirated publications, 184,000 were bawdry publications and 249,000 items were illegal newspaper and periodicals. 5 illegal CD product lines were captured and 3,202 cases were investigated.

Based on the statistics released, the Mainland deployed 876,000 enforcers, inspected 376,000 publication markets and booths, checked 141,000 print and duplicating enterprises, put the lid on 9,093 markets and booths and 569 print and duplicating enterprises.

Moreover, 261 cases involving pornography spread via Internet were investigated and from last November to this March, over 140,000 illegal websites were shut.

Meanwhile, the Informant Center of National Anti-Pornography and Anti-Illegal Publications Office, General Administration of Press and Publication and National Copyright Administration of China received 140,028 items of valid reports of which 133,227 pieces were submitted via Internet and 6,801 were reported on telephone.
