30th Anniversary for China's accession to WIPO |
On June 3, 2010, China welcomes its 30th anniversary of accession to WIPO. China became the 90th member country of WIPO on this day in 1980. During the 30 years, China's IP business developed vigorously and has achieved remarkable achievements. After many years' development, China State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) has become one of the five bureaus in the world. In 2009, the patent applications submitted by the way of PCT reached 7,946 pieces, ranked the fifth in the world, meanwhile, the patent applications and authorizations in China were increased sharply; as of April this year, China has accepted 6,095,949 pieces of patent applications, and the invention patent applications of which reached 2,037,742 pieces; and the authorized patents reached 3,369,718 pieces. As of the end of 2009, China's trademark applications were 7.22 million pieces, the registered trademarks were 4.27 million pieces, and the annual trademark applications reached 830,000 pieces, all of those rank the first of the world. The insiders expressed that, the practices proved that the accession to WIPO boosts the healthy and rapid development of IPR business in China and also accelerate the pace of Chinese economy toward the world. |
