GI protection kicked off for Ling Mountain Lichee |

In order to protect the unique product of the local area and build the lichee brand, Ling Mountain kicked off the declaration work for the geographic indication (GI) protection for "Ling Mountain Lichee". Ling Mountain lichee has a long history and has won the reputation of "Hometown of Lichee in China". It won gold and silver medals in several agricultural exhibitions and all kinds of awards at home and abroad. In 2008, Standardization Administration of PRC included the standardization model area for the production of Ling Mountain Lichee in the 6th batch of agricultural standardization model projects. At present, the area for Lichee is more than 600,000 mus and the regular annual production reaches 800,000 tons, basically forming the new developing mode of regional planting and industrialized operation. The County of Ling Mountain takes the declaration for the GI products protection as a significant measure to cultivate and develop the local characteristic economy, and brings it into the working plan of "developing the county by quality" and brand cultivation of the government. |
