MOFCOM holds publicity meeting on IP protection at 108th Canton Fair

On October 17, in order to implement National Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy, fully carry out "Measures on IP Protection of Exhibition", vigorously spread the successful experiences on IP protection at Canton Fair, and reinforce the IP protection of exhibition, Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) held a publicity meeting on IP protection at 108^th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair). Chong Quan, Deputy Representative of international trade negotiations was present at the meeting and made a speech.

Chong Quan said in his speech, in recent years, China's exhibition economy achieved a rapid development and made positive contributions for the sustained and stable development of national economy. In the international financial crisis,the exhibition economy played an important role in stabilizing external demand, expanding domestic demand and invigorating the circulation.
　

Chong Quan pointed out that IP protection is the important safeguard of enhancing independent innovation and is the objective need of the economic social and development in China. Strengthening the IP protection of exhibition is quite an important content in IP protection work, which is useful for the protection of legal rights of right holders and encouragement of innovation, as well as maintaining the order of exhibition, promoting trade and boosting the healthy development of international economic and trade cooperation.

　　
Chogn Quan expressed that MOFCOM attaches great importance on the IP work of exhibition, and constituted "Measures on IP Protection of Exhibition" together with State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), National Copyright Administration (NCA) and State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). In the joint efforts of various departments, the related domestic exhibitions have gradually constructed the corresponding IP protection mechanisms especially the Canton Fair.

　
Moreover, MOFCOM also concerns the IP protection at the overseas exhibitions of domestic enterprises while strengthening the IP protection at domestic exhibitions, and it has begun to set up "IP Service Station for Chinese Exhibitors" at foreign famous exhibitions and gained positive effects.

Li Chenggang, Deputy Director of the Department of Treaty and Law of MOFCOM introduced about the related situations of optimization of exhibition IP legislation.
　

Carlo Pandolfi, Director of China-EU IP Cooperation Project spoke highly of the cooperation between China and EU in IP protection and appreciated the achievements gained by China in IP protection.
　

At the fair, Heads of Missions of Fair Trading signed the letter of commitment on IP protection.
