98 million yuan worth of IPR infringing commodities seized in the last two months |
China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine released the latest progress of the special campaign on fighting against IPR infringement and manufacture and distribution of fake and shoddy commodities on December 29, 2010 and notified the public of ten typical cases cracked in the campaign. From October to the end of December in 2010, authorities on quality supervision have seized 98.5708 million yuan worth of illegal products, 817 hauls of bulk exports and 153 million yuan worth of shoddy commodities. Yan Fengmin, head of the law enforcement department with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said at a news release conference that the special campaign to fight against IPR infringement and production and distribution of fake and shoddy commodities was launched last October by the nationwide administrations for quality supervision. By the end of last December, 2,550 thousand cases have been filed, 98.5708 million yuan worth of illegal products have been seized, 723 thousand hauls of bulk commodities for export, such as garments, home appliances and toys, have been investigated, 817 of which were poorly made, involving 153 million US dollars. From January to November 2010, 149.7 thousand cases involving 5.743 billion yuan have been cracked by quality supervision authorities, 1,802 of which were about auto spare parts valuing at 75.66 million yuan. 122 cases therein have been handed over to administrations for public security. According to Yan, the special campaign emphasizes on three focal points: key products, key regions and prominent problems. Quality supervision agencies will strengthen the enforcement in the next stage and continue protecting intellectual property rights and safeguard enterprises' lawful interests. |
