Hainan: IPR protection promulgated in Haikou |
Police officials in Haikou, Hainan province launched a publicity event on the morning of 10 January, 2011, to enhance the influence of the special campaign on the crackdown of intellectual property rights (IPRs) violation and production and distribution of fake and shoddy commodities. By responding to inquiries distributing written materials, the police was able to inform the public of the latest progress of the campaign as well as key stipulations in relevant laws and regulations. Since the Ministry of Public Security launched the special campaign to combat IPR infringement in November 2010, police forces in Haikou have been cooperating with local administrations for industry and commerce, tobacco control and quality control. The joint efforts have resulted in 5 places involved in illegal activities being destroyed, 3 cases being cracked and 7 criminals being caught. A great amount of fake Moutai liquor, cigarettes, cement, salt and beverages were seized. In addition, the authorities managed to solve the province’s biggest case ever on distribution of fake Moutai liquor valuing more than 6 million yuan; 3 suspects were captured accordingly. |
