Ministry of Culture held symposium on Intangible Cultural Heritage Law The Intangible Cultural Heritage Law of the People’s Republic of China was approved on February 25 by NPC Standing Committee and will be applied on June 1. To raise the awareness of the significance of issuing the said law and well comprehend the main contents, the Ministry of Culture conducted a symposium on fulfilling the ICH law. The Secretary of CPC Group and Minister Cai Wu attended and addressed the symposium. According to Minister Cai Wu, firstly, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Law is a key step to improve the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics and strengthen cultural legistation. The issuance of the law not only promoted the level of cultural legislation, but also enriched the legal system of China. Secondly, the issuance of the law will provide a basis for ICH protection work. Cai Wu stressed that the ICH Law is the fundamental basis in guiding China’s ICH protection work. The law defined “one target”, i.e. inherit and carry forward the fine traditional Chinese culture; the law also put forward “two principles” in guiding ICH protection work, i.e. “emphasize the authenticity, integrity and inheritance” and “it should be in favor of enhancing the cultural identity of Chinese nation”. Moreover, the ICH law regulated “three systems”, i.e. survey system, representative project list system and transmission and dissemination system. |
