Zhejiang: Private sectors conduct initiatives to protect brands

Statistics show that since the launch of the special campaign on combating IPR theft and counterfeiting, Hangzhou Customs has implemented IPR protection measures for 461 times, in which, the number of actions taken to protect domestic innovations accounted for 36.9% of the total amount, outdoing the United States and Japan in this regard and ranking first across the world.

Of all the uncovered cases, 37 were on local indigenous innovations in Zhejiang Province.

The government attributed the greatly improved consciousness on IP protection in private sectors to the enhanced policy dissemination and intellectual property protection.

As of now, more than 40 local enterprises in Yiwu area have successfully got registered in the Customs' system, and 11 of them have finished the registration this year, accounting for 27.5%.

Fu Jianping, director of the regulation division of Hangzhou Customs, introduced that the authority has already combined intellectual property protection with the pilot reform program on international business, encouraging local business entities, trade companies and forwarders to register in the system so that the source of the cargo to be exported can be traced, which has ensured stronger intellectual property protection.
