MIIT: reinforce IPR protection to drive emerging industries |
Lately, Vice Head of Science and Technology Department under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Han Jun predicted in Tianjin City that in the future, strategic emerging industries would play more and more important role in China’s national economy. To ensure the sound development of emerging industries, it is a must to enhance IPR protection and work out guide policies in favor of industry development. China must strengthen cultivation of strategic emerging industries and enhance the overall strength to realize transformation and upgrading in national economic development. “It is an inevitable requirement to develop strategic emerging industries in order to enhance indigenous innovative ability and raise enterprises’ competiveness during the period of the Twelfth Five-Year Plan,” said Han Jun. The development of strategic emerging industries can not be separated with indigenous IPRs. Reasonably using IPRs to safeguard rights and run businesses will be helpful for industrial development. Han Jun suggested that relevant enterprises should enhance IPR analysis pertaining to strategic emerging industries. Meanwhile, on the basis of owning core technologies, China should enhance the formulation of criteria and strive to develop industrial criterion system, encourage enterprises to participate domestic and international cooperation to gain more rights of speech in the process of international standardization, and ask relevant departments to coordinate with each other to avoid excessive internal waste |
