Recently, Jinan Municipal Intellectual Property Office held a meeting on intellectual property work scheduling and directors of all IPOs across the municipality attended the meeting.

The meeting made reports on patent applications and grants from January to August in 2009. During this period, the whole city applied 7200 patents, with an increase of 14.89% comparing to the same period last year; patents granted were 3715, 21.41% higher than that in the same period last year. The number of the patent application, invention patent application, patents granted, and invention patents granted all topped the whole province.

At the meeting, all counties (cities) communicated and discussed with each other about their own IP work to find problems so could find corresponding measures to make further progress on IP protection.

Director of Jinan Municipal Intellectual Property Office Ma Sugang pointed out some concrete measures, firstly, to enhance service for enterprises to improve their independent innovation abilities; secondly, to facilitate the intellectual property strategy study; thirdly, to boost the industrialization of the patented technologies with policy guidance; fourth, to reinforce the intellectual property work among counties for the development of counties' economy.
