Ministry of Culture: ICH doesn’t mean IP monopoly |
According to principals from the Ministry of Culture, China has 25 intangible culture heritages (ICH) listed successfully in the UNECSO ICH List, and now we have 29 ICH items in total and becomes the one with the most ICH items in such list. China will set up special places for exhibition, learning and passing for the 29 items. It is explained that, according to provisions by the UNESCO, the declaration of the ICH doesn’t mean the confirmation for the intellectual property right belonging, but to specify the protection for the item in certain country; and the successful declaration doesn’t mean the country has the exclusive rights for the ICH. “It is just a misunderstanding for some people to discuss the belongings of the ICH.” |
