Hunan develops ethnic cultural projects

In recent years, Hunan exerted itself to develop and protect minority cultural resources and nowadays, 30 intangible cultural heritage (ICH) projects were on the list of national ICHs.

From the year 2003, 14 regions in Hunan were approved as folk culture contact places and folk traditional P.E. bases. Only in the state-level demo place of Yongshun County, Hunan Ethnic Affairs Commission successively invested 950,000 yuan in ethnic culture to build public cultural activity system with ethnic characteristics. Meanwhile, Hunan Ethnic Affairs Commission combined ICHs with tourism to create tourism brand with ethnic culture and increase the attraction of minority regions. Only in 2008, over 25,000,000 tourists home and abroad visited the minority autonomous regions of Hunan, which brought 18.3 billion yuan.
