Peking University holds international Symposium on IPR protection and management

From November 27 to 28, the International Workshop on IPR Protection and Management was held in Peking University. It is organized by Institute for International Intellectual Property in Peking University and co-hosted by Cornerstone Intellectual Property Foundation and Asia Pacific Law School and aims at offering a high-end communication platform for IPR home and abroad. Two hundred experts, scholars, and experienced practitioners from China, U.S., EU, Japan and other countries and districts gathered together to discuss the protection and management of intellectual property rights.

The symposium also set up an interesting forum titled “Simulated Culture & IPR”. Simulated is the most popular word since 2008 which first came out in IT industry. It is the copy of some famous brand among people with low cost. Debates have never stopped since the appearance of the simulated cultures. And this symposium is to discuss how to treat the phenomenon from the aspect of IPR to see whether it could effectively facilitate the industrial development and innovation or the essential of the infringement could bring damages to the legitimate competitive orders.
