EU-China training on administrative patent enforcement |

IPR2 is co-operating with the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and the IP Institute at Xiamen University to organise an in-depth training at Xiamen, 25-30 January 2010, for ground-level enforcement officials on substantive and procedural law related to administrative patent enforcement in China, as well as patent protection at customs and trade fairs in EU and China. China is set to be the world's largest file of new patents by 2012, based on present growth. As the number of patent increases, so do the potential for patent infringements and the size of official case loads. Efficient administrative enforcement requires a high level of operational, legal and procedural expertise. The training aims to address the practical needs of China's administrative enforcement authorities when dealing with patent infringement cases, and at the same time help deepen understanding of Europe's patent enforcement system. It will look at relevant issues related to administrative procedural law as well as the transfer of cases from administrative to criminal enforcement authorities; with reference to case studies presented by Chinese and European experts followed by in-depth discussions.
