Customs investigates over 65,000 IP-related cases

The reporter learnt from the General Administration of Customs that, based on the preliminary statistics, in 2009, the customs departments detained 65,192 batches of goods suspected of IPR infringement, adding up to 181,000,000 pieces with a value of 370,000,000 yuan.

From June 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009, the customs departments in the nation launched special campaigns on IPR protection in mail delivery and express tunnels. During the special campaign, customs officials captured 37,784 batches of infringing goods, amounting to 2,619,600 pieces valuing at 61,945,000 yuan.

To assist domestic enterprises to cope with financial crisis, the customs at all levels further reinforced the protection of proprietary IPRs of domestic enterprises, provided more well-suited IPR record service, helped enterprises to solve problems in their right safeguarding and boosted enterprises with independent brands to explore global market. Last year, customs departments detained 482 batches of goods infringing the proprietary IPRs of home enterprises, totaling 47,071,000 pieces with a value of 40,923,000 yuan.
