Chongqing intensifies protection over foreign related trademark rights

In 2009, Chongqing investigated 37 cases related to foreign trademarks, valuing at 4,024,600 yuan, which effectively ameliorated investment environment and set up a good image of Chongqing in IPR protection in the world.

The investigated cases involving foreign related trademarks mainly touched upon the trademark rights of enterprises of the United States, Japan, Germany, England, France, Italy and Canada and centralized in such fields as clothes, food and cosmetic.

According to Director of Chongqing Municipal Industry and Commerce Bureau Wang Yuankai, in the whole year of 2009, the industrial and commercial departments investigated 638 pieces of trademark cases with a value of 10,990,400 yuan and a fine of 5,423,000 yuan, confiscated and destroyed 120,832 pieces of infringing commodities and 155,225 pieces of signs of infringing trademarks.
