China High-Level Forum on Intellectual Property 2010 opened |

On the morning of April 20, China High-Level Forum on Intellectual Property 2010 was opened in Beijing. Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Lu Yongxiang and Secretary General of Bureau of International Exhibitions（BIE）Mr. V. G. Loscertales respectively sent congratulatory letters for the forum, Commissioner of State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu, Deputy Director of State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) Fu Shuangjian and Deputy Director of National Copyright Administration (NCA) Yan Xiaohong delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 350 representatives and famous scholars from the related ministries and committees, embassies, local intellectual property offices, foreign representative offices, domestic and foreign famous enterprises and agencies attended the forum. The forum was broadcasted live by www.people.com.cn with video and photos and texts. The forum was co-hosted by SIPO, SAIC and NCA and with the sponsorship of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The topic was "Developing a Balanced and Effective IP System". Lu Yongxiang indicated in his congratulatory letter that, both developed and developing countries are currently exploring how to construct and consummate IP system and promote national development and social advancement. All sides should strive to construct a balanced and effective IP System based on the national circumstances of all the countries. Tian Lipu expressed that, many of the problems appeared in IP protection work are the global challenges which require all the states to work together to respond. The position of Chinese government is firm and will continue to strengthen IP protection. The forum was divided into five subjects including: IP and economic and social development, fully exerting the role of patent system encouraging innovation, law enforcement and cooperation on trademark protection under the background of globalization, new trends of the copyright protection under digital environment and IP protection and balance of interests at exhibitions. |
