BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- A Beijing court will hear a lawsuit filed by Taiwan-based Rock Records Co. Ltd. (Rock) against a Beijing-based online music provider over copyright infringements. Rock, Asia's biggest independent label, is suing Wangyue Tianxia Internet Information Service Co. Ltd., operator of the website www.yy.com, for allowing free online playing of 105 songs that are subject to Rock royalties, according to a notice released by the Beijing Intermediate People's Court on Saturday. The court notice said that Rock Records requested the music provider to stop the songs being played online, and sought up to 240,000 yuan (36,400 U.S. dollars) in compensation for copyright infringements. The songs include pop music hits by Malaysia pop singer Fish Leong and famous Chinese singer-songwriter Wakin Chau. |
